The Emirates-owned JW Marriott Marquis Dubai has sustainability on its top agenda with participation in the Food Bank scheme, growing recycling figures and attaining the ISO 14001 certification for environmental practices.

In the first six months of 2017, the hotel welcomed 782,062 food customers, a 9.4% increase on the same period in 2016. The hotel has also contributed 3791.8kg of food to the UAE Food Bank. This translates into 39,910 meals in just six months, distributed to those in need in the city.

Further restaurants at JW Marriott Marquis Dubai use local and regional organic produce, in partnership with Ripe. Fruits and vegetables used in the hotel are sanitized with Rox Water machines, to avoid use of chemicals.

In another area of growth, the JW Marriott Marquis welcomed 350,410 guests in rooms in the first half of 2017, a 15.8% increase on 2016. Recycling efforts have further improved and general waste went down by 7.3%.

Finally, the JW Marriott Marquis Dubai was the first large hotel in the UAE to receive ISO14001 certification.
