Condor Airlines commences winter service to KL in 2018

Malaysia Airports and Malaysia Tourism Promotion Board (Tourism Malaysia) have announced that Condor Airlines, from Germany, will be commencing its Frankfurt-Kuala Lumpur route during the Northern Winter in 2018.

In this regard, Tourism Malaysia has inked a Memorandum of Marketing Collaboration (MoMC) with Condor Airlines, marking the beginning of a joint marketing initiative with Condor Airlines utilizing a promotional fund set-up between Tourism Malaysia and Malaysia Airports.

The ceremony, witnessed by YB Dato’ Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz, Minister of Tourism and Culture Malaysia, was represented by YBhg Dato’ Sri Abdul Khani Daud, Deputy Director General (Promotions) of Tourism Malaysia and Ralf Teckentrup, the CEO of Condor Airlines.

The airline will commence a thrice-weekly service utilising the A330-200 aircraft that will provide capacity for about 850 inbound passengers weekly. The scheduled service looks to boost European passenger numbers, particularly from Germany. Currently, there is no direct flights between Germany and Kuala Lumpur since withdrawal of services by Malaysia Airlines and Lufthansa.

Prior to this, Malaysia Airports and Tourism Malaysia had finalised a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), with a view to promote, develop and increase inbound tourism globally particularly from India, China and Europe. This joint marketing initiative requires both parties to establish a promotional fund, to be used to support marketing campaigns by airlines and travel industry partners.
