IntercityHotel expands into Saudi Arabia

The IntercityHotel brand is continuing its expansion on the Arabian Peninsula. The IntercityHotel Riyadh Malaz will open for business before end of the year. This represents the company’s first move into the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. IntercityHotel’s contractual partner is East Consulting Engineering Center.

The IntercityHotel Riyadh Malaz will be a new build project that will accommodate a total of 86 rooms including four suites. The hotel’s food and beverage offerings will comprise a restaurant and lounge, as well as several conference rooms for business travellers. Sporting facilities will include a gym and a roof-top pool.

Ahmed M Alabdulkarim, owner and founder of the East Consulting Engineering Center said: “This move reflects growth in hotel investments that is taking place in Saudi Arabia and aims to tap into the overall tourism potential in general and by Riyadh in particular. It also aligns with the country’s ‘Vision 2030’ plan to diversify into various economic sectors including tourism and hospitality. This is expected to drive a new era of national growth.”

Deutsche Hospitality already has a presence in the region in the form of the Steigenberger Hotel Business Bay in Dubai and the IntercityHotel Salalah in Oman. This latest contractual agreement brings the number of IntercityHotels being developed on the Arabian Peninsula to four. Alongside Riyadh in Saudi Arabia, another project in Dubai and two further locations in Muscat and Nizwa in Oman.

Deutsche Hospitality inks partnership with GBI AG

Deutsche Hospitality and GBI AG are launching a comprehensive programme of cooperation for the development of new hotel locations. The main emphasis is on IntercityHotel and Jaz in the City brands.

The starting point will be four IntercityHotels in Heidelberg, Wiesbaden, Bielefeld and Graz. A total of around 800 rooms within direct proximity of respective main railway stations in these cities. Lease agreements have already been signed, and GBI has acquired sites to be used in Germany from Deutsche Bahn as part of a package deal.

These projects will strengthen the presence of Deutsche Hospitality in the German-speaking market and will continue to expand the IntercityHotel brand as it celebrates its 30th anniversary.

The series of IntercityHotel projects will get underway in Wiesbaden, where construction will commence in spring of 2018 with an expected completion date at turn of the year 2019-20. The Graz construction project is scheduled to finish in 2020. The two other locations will follow in 2023.

These four IntercityHotel project developments represent the first collaboration between GBI AG and Deutsche Hospitality, both of which are major hotel market players within their respective sectors.

Steigenberger Alcazar-Sharm El Sheikh opens for business

The Steigenberger Alcazar-Sharm El Sheikh in Egypt recently opened its doors for business. The new property features 610 rooms with 99 of them swim up rooms with direct access to the pool. There are also 12 junior suites and two villas equipped with private pools.

Guests can also take advantage of the 3000 square metre private beach and diverse underwater world surrounding the Sinai Peninsula for diving and snorkelling. The hotel also offers additional sporting facilities, both water and land-based, as well as housing a spa and gym.

Additional facilities include five à la carte restaurants offer Asian, Lebanese and Italian specialities as well as grill- and seafood and several bars. An ultra all-inclusive package is also available.

The Steigenberger Alcazar-Sharm El Sheikh Resort is the 11th hotel which Deutsche Hospitality has launched in Egypt. The hotel will be operated via a franchise agreement. The property owner and contractual partner is NABQ Touristic Projects SAE.

Deutsche Hospitality opens third property in Tunisia

In a bid to strengthen its presence in Tunisia, Deutsche Hospitality signed an agreement for a new property.

From November 2017, guests will be welcomed at the Steigenberger Hotel Palace Marhaba on the Gulf of Hammamet. The hotel chain forayed into the country in April with two hotels (Steigenberger and Jaz) in Sousse.

The Steigenberger Hotel Palace Marhaba will offer 371 rooms and suites as well as six restaurants and bars serving up a range of different cuisines. Additional facilities include six indoor and outdoor pools, a Thalassotherapy Centre with a choice of beauty treatments, massage parlours, hairdressing salon, hammam and a sauna. There will also be six conference rooms.

“Our declared company goal is to seek international growth,” said Puneet Chhatwal, CEO of Deutsche Hospitality. Deutsche Hospitality will operate the hotel under a management agreement. The owner is Tunisia-based Marhaba Company.

Steigenberger Hotel Riverside Bangkok scheduled for 2019 opening

Deutsche Hospitality has announced plans to enter Thailand with its first property in Bangkok. The hospitality company signed an agreement for its first five-star Steigenberger Hotel Riverside.

The property is scheduled to open in Bangkok by 2019. The hotel will offer 259 rooms, including deluxe rooms, suites, superior suites, honeymoon suites and a Presidential suite. The meetings industry can take advantage of the 900 square meters conference and banqueting facilities.

The food and beverage options will feature a pool restaurant, roof terrace bar and restaurant and a VIP lounge. The spa and gym area will contain both an indoor and an outdoor pool.

The hotel will be operated via a management agreement. The property owner and contractual partner is the Thai company River Garden Co Ltd.
