Melbourne titled seventh time ‘world’s most liveable city’

Melbourne’s has been titled ‘world’s most liveable city’ for the seventh year by the Economist Intelligence Unit’s (EIU) annual Liveability Index. The Index surveys 140 of the world’s cities and Melbourne has come top again.

Since the index began in 2006, Melbourne has consistently come in the top three of the index. The city ticks all the Liveability Index boxes and many others.

Melbourne is the acknowledged cultural and sporting capital of Australia hosting major events including the Australian Open, Formula One Australian Grand Prix and Spring Racing Carnival. It is also home to many renowned universities, producing the highest number of technical graduates in the country and also voted as one of the world’s top five student cities. Melbourne is also now Australia’s fastest growing city and is projected to overtake Sydney as Australia’s biggest city by 2030.

Even further, Savills World Research’s Tech Cities 2017 report included Melbourne as one of the cities across the world at the forefront of the global tech industry.
